You will get to admire the famous Coliseum in Nimes, a monument that has been very well preserved and which hosts many shows, concerts and other cultural events all year round

The next part of your excursion will take you to the ‘Maison Carré’, the best-preserved Roman temple in the world. The building work on this monument was finished in the first century of our era. Opposite you will also see the ‘Carré d’Art’, designed by the Architect Norman Foster. It is home to a contemporary art museum as well as a media library. Finally, you will be able to visit the ‘Jardins de la Fontaine’ a park with many monuments dating back before Roman times such as the ‘Temple of Diane’, near to a sacred spring. Another must is the ‘Tour de Magne’, which is 32 meters high and once part of the Roman wall.
As you will already probably have gathered, the town of Nimes in the South of France, located between the Camargue and the Cevennes, has plenty of things for you to see and do. Before getting on the private coach that will take you back to Montpellier, don’t forget to taste a few of the local delicacies during your free time here. Whether it be in a restaurant or even at the outside or inside market, make sure you don’t miss the renowned ‘Brandade de Nimes’ a dish that is made up of cod paste.
