I have to start with Café Oz. The company that owns this bar has all different kinds of places all over France and they have so much experience and know exactly what they have to do to keep a bar at the edge of a thriving scene. They are impressively creative with the different themes, events and special shows they run month after month. They have a ton of videos on YouTube so you don’t have to take my word for it. It’s not just big events though, their weekly schedule is consistently interesting with every night something different happening. The students at the Easy French Immersion School all know about Monday nights at the Australian Bar. With pints of decent beer at 2 euros all night it’s a magnet for students. This also has the benefit of drawing in all the students together so what results is a great mix of French natives and international students most whom speak English so it is so easy to meet people from all over the world.
The other nights are great too and each offer something special. What really makes this bar though is the team. The barmen and the glassies are constantly injecting their energy into the room. They have top class flair artistes who will make you a bit dizzy as they make your drink, amazing DJs many of whom also work at the bar and each night they will get up on the bar and tables and dance with you like you are life-long friends.
This bar is where they host the national flair competition each year which is a spectacular show and is a testament to the quality of the place. This is a must for party goers in Montpellier.
Antirouille is one of those places that I love that has a bit of a rough exterior but has so much substance to it you can’t help but love it. Located right in the centre of town practically next door to one of the Easy French School residences it is a common favourite. The standard nights are decent but what Antrouille really excels at are it’s DJ set shows. They have a big stage where artistes can really be free to get into it and the sound and light system they have are amazing. I have found they have a particularly good set of electronic reggae DJs who perform here and whenever I hear they are putting on something like that I’m there.
Now if you want a warehouse rave there are a decent ones all around the outskirts of the city but a good place to start is Dieze Warehouse. A fair distance from the centre but still walkable or a short taxi ride and it is so worth it. Raw, intense and raging this will give you that eye popping experience you are looking for. They have DJs flying in from all over the world and often do free entry, many different companies lease out this space and they are all hungry to make their rave the bigger beast to snatch the glory from the last one. So as a client you can just sit back and enjoy what this healthy competition brings straight to into your hands.
